Personal Information about EPA Staff on the Web

Do not create pages within epa.gov that display staff biographies or that are otherwise about staff, except:

• In the About EPA website
  • Personal information including biographies is limited to information about top agency staff, including:
    • The Administrator,
    • The Deputy Administrator,
    • Associate Deputy Administrators,
    • Assistant Administrators,
    • Associate Administrators,
    • Regional Administrators,
    • the Inspector General,
    • the General Counsel,
    • the Chief Information Officer,
    • the Science Advisor,
    • the Chief Scientist, 
    • Lab Directors,
    • Chief of Staff and Deputy Chiefs of Staff,
    • Senior Advisors to the Administrator,
    • Directors of offices with a geographic focus (i.e., Chesapeake Bay Program Office, Great Lakes National Program Office and Gulf of Mexico Program Office),
    • White House Liaison, and
    • Directors of top-level AO offices.
  • Exceptions must be approved by:
    • your office or Regional Web Council member, and
    • the Office of Public Affairs (OPA).
  • ORD has received an exception to this prohibition for their specific Researcher Profiles web area. ORD will be posting professional profiles, including biographies/curriculum vitae of certain ORD staff. Learn more about the specifics on the Managing the "About EPA" Website page.
• As part of the Researchers at Work series in the Science Matters Newsletter website.
• As part of the Research Triangle Park Speakers Bureau website.
• As part of content celebrating Women’s History Month at EPA or similar months celebrating the heritage of EPA staff and other Americans.
• As part of a series of staff profiles in the Careers website.
• Where the information is associated with an entry in an EPA Perspective.

1. Pictures of people performing their jobs are permitted, but do not identify them without their consent.
2. Use proper copyrights and disclaimers.
3. Do not use group photos of staff that simply represent the members of an EPA organization, but serve no other function.
4. Do not use photos for self-promotion of staff members. This includes portrait shots associated with resumes or staff biographies (but see item 1 above)
5. Photos must adhere to the Graphics Web Standard.
