Managing the "Careers" Website
On this page:
- How will changes be made to content in the Careers website? Who is responsible for what content?
- What content may not be published in the site?
- What content may be published in the site? / Policies for specific content in the Careers website
Note that ALL web content on EPA jobs, careers, internships etc. must reside within epa.gov/careers, with the exception of ORD research fellowships, which are described in the Research Fellowships web area.
How Will Changes Be Made to Content in the Careers site? Who is responsible for what content?
The Careers Editor in Chief (EIC) is responsible for the overall management of the site, and is responsible for any specific content not otherwise assigned.
AAships should not develop/have specific content in the site since generally, we drive visitors to USAJobs.gov. Exceptions:
- ORD will co-manage with the Careers EIC the Science Careers section of the site.
- OGC, OECA, OARM/OALJ and OARM/EAB can post, if they want such a page:
- up to one page of information off the Legal Careers at EPA page (or they can ask the EIC to publish this content for them). Learn how below.
- up to one page of information off the Internships and Fellowships for Law Students and Recent Law School Grads page (or they can ask the EIC to publish this content for them). Learn how below.
- AAships must post their own unpaid volunteer (internships) information. Learn how below.
Regions must develop and manage their own content in Careers. Regional content consists *only* of:
- Up to one page of content about legal careers in the Region, off the Legal Careers at EPA page, if the Region wants such a page. Learn how below.
- Up to one page of content about internships and fellowships in the Region for law students and recent law school grads, off the Internships and Fellowships for Law Students and Recent Law School Grads page, if the Region wants such a page. Learn how below.
- Content about unpaid volunteer (internships) information. Learn how below.
In addition, AAships and Regions must:
- Identify:
- a managing editor for their organization's content within the Careers site, and
- no more than two people who will have a web area role like "webmaster" that provides access in the Drupal Web CMS system, so that they can update and otherwise publish that organization's content on behalf of the managing editor. The "Roles in the Careers Website" table below lists for each organization (a) the managing editor and (b) people with web area roles.
-
Keep their content up-to-date.
- Ensure that they review and republish their content in a timely fashion so that files in the Drupal Web CMS system do not get "unpublished". Note:
-
Review and republication is required by the Drupal Web CMS system as often as every three months for certain types of content.
-
People who have a web area role in the Drupal Web CMS system may receive "review and republish" emails from the system for MANY pages in the Careers site, including pages that they are not primarily responsible for. They are expected to sort through these emails and ensure that the pages for which they are responsible stay up-to-date, and do not get unpublished.
-
What Content MAY NOT Be Published in the Site?
Content Specifically Prohibited
- Content that describes job, fellowship or internship opportunities, where those opportunities are any other website outside of epa.gov, like USAJobs.gov, the ORISE fellowships site or the AAAS fellowships site.
- Descriptions of individual opportunities other than unpaid student/volunteer internships.
- Other than as listed above, specific pages devoted to jobs or careers in individual branches, divisions, offices, labs, AAships or Regions. For example, all of these pages would be prohibited:
- Job Opportunities in the AO Office of Magical Unicorns
- Careers in Region 3.1415
- Volunteer Opportunities in the Rainbow Lab
Please Note
- Please contact the Careers EIC if you have a question about what content is permitted and what is not. Content that is:
- not specifically prohibited, and
- not listed in the table below,
- If you believe that the Careers site does not include information vital to our web visitors about employment opportunities in your AAship or Region, please contact the Careers Editor-in-Chief.
Repeated publication of prohibited content will result in your access being removed by the Editor-in-Chief.
